Prof. Tan led 6 students to successfully complete the NSF-funded International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) Project in Composite Materials. The students spent 8-weeks in laboratories at The University of Tokyo, Nagoya University and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, focusing on sustainability and recycling technology in composites. They also learnt inter-cultural research skillsets and achieved outstanding research outcomes. They will present their work in ASME IMECE 2026 in Vancouver, Canada in November 2026.
